Student Learning Expectations

A St. Margaret Mary School student is:

 A faithful catholic who:

·         Understands and uses Catholic values in daily living and strives to live a moral lifestyle

·         Receives and understands the value of the sacraments

·         Has knowledge of scripture and Catholic heritage

·         Has a spirit of service in church family, school and community

·         Has a personal relationship with Jesus

·         Actively participates in liturgical and paraliturgical services

·         Respects beliefs of others

·         Sets a good example and is a Christian role model

 An Effective learner who:

·         Has the ability to obtain and use information

·         Accepts the responsibility to learn independently and cooperatively

·         Is able to use technology

·         Has obtained progressive grade level knowledge

·         Is a critical thinker and problem solver

·         Has a positive attitude towards learning

·         Is flexible and keeps an open mind

·         Has a positive attitude toward learning

·         Is a good listener and can follow directions

 An effective communicator who:

·         Is an active listener respecting other’s thoughts and ideas

·         Can articulate ideas clearly, effectively and creatively

·         Is able to express written thoughts clearly using correct writing skills

·         Is able to share opinions/information at appropriate times

 A responsible person who:

·         Is goal oriented for school year and the future

·         Has a positive attitude

·         Respects authority, self and others

·         Learns how to live a healthy lifestyle

·         Is accountable for their actions

·         Has a sense of right and wrong

·         Has the understanding of the need to stand up for beliefs in the face of peer pressure

       The school provides a challenging, comprehensive, and relevant curriculum for each student that fulfills the school's philosophy and mission, strengthens Catholic identity, and results in achievement of the student learning expectations.
We have courses in:

  • religion
  • language arts
  • mathematics 

  • science
  • physical education
  • computers
  • fine arts
  • social studies 

Phonics  is stressed in grades K-3
