The Coach
The track coach is Mr. Chris Corvese. He can be reached by phone at (909) 393-1886 (home) or by emailing chris@cvw.com .
The coach must be contacted regarding any athlete who won't be attending any track meet.
Running Shoes
The minimum needed to participate on the track team is a pair of sneakers. If you want something more, than you can buy a good pair of running shoes at any sporting goods store. This is important if you run a few miles at a time. You can also buy racing shoes, very lightweight shoes specifically designed to be fast. Whatever shoes you buy, you are not allowed to wear any shoe with spikes or that can accept spikes, only rubber-soled shoes.
If you want to buy racing shoes, a good unisex shoe is the Nike Waffle Zoom Racer, a relatively inexpensive shoe that has been around for many years. It runs about $40 from sporting goods stores and are available from (mens) size 4 up. They can be found for as low as $20 from the internet. One site I've purchased from with good results is www.eastbay.com. You can navigate there and enter "nike waffle racer" in their search box to see what available, or you can try this link.
