Weekly Ventures

Religion – We are preparing for our prayer service which is on Friday, June 6th. We are also watching a series of videos based on biblical stories we learned about this year.

Math – We’re finishing Chapter 10, Data and Graphs. Topics include: plotting points on coordinate grids and graphing equations. The test will be on Thursday, June 5th.

Language Arts – Spelling 3rd trimester review test on 6/3. Vocabulary: Unit 16. Test on 6/4. Reading: We are finishing our novel, Island of the Blue Dolphins. English: grammar review.

Science – We are finishing on Unit C, Earth Science. We are finishing up Chapter 7, Our Changing Earth. Topics include: what causes rapid changes to landforms? Test on Friday, June 6th. The test will consist of the short quizzes I usually give them at the end of each lesson. I will staple them together and that will be the test.  

Social Studies – We are finishing Unit 5, California Government. Topics include: comparing local, state, and federal governments, what our state government does for us, and how CA’s communities are governed. There will be a test on Friday, June 6th. There will be no essays, multiple choice only.

Important Reminders

This is the last newsletter for the year! Please check the dates carefully.

The last day of school is Friday, June 13th. There is mass that morning, so students need to wear full dress uniform.

The honor roll assembly will follow immediately after mass.

Scandia: Please make sure students wear sun screen and bring some extra. They are welcome to bring money for the arcade of extra snack if they would like. Students may get on rides which have water and will get wet, so please dress accordingly, but remember to follow the SMMS dress code. Permission slips will be sent home next week and will be due by Thursday, 6/5.

Don’t forget to sign up for student appreciation day. We need parent volunteers.

Parent appreciation begins at 1:15 in the hall.

 Finally, thank you so much for you support this year. I know it’s been a long year and everyone is looking forward to summer vacation, but I hope that you are as happy as I am about the growth your child has made this year. Have a safe and relaxing summer!
