MARCH NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents,

We made our goal and we get a day of fun for the Golf Tournament donation.  We had 100% participation.  I will let you know when we will have our special day.  On St. Patrick’s Day we are going to have a small celebration.  If you would like to send in a treat to be passed out at the end of the day it would be greatly appreciated.  I will have a sign up sheet posted outside the class.  Telling Time is going very well.  Please continue to work with your child at home.  We are going to take a field trip with our Buddies on May 1st.  We are going to go see the play “Beauty and the Beast”.  We will be taking a bus along with our buddies.  Our seats are limited so I will not need parents for this field trip.  I will need drivers for our field trip on April 15th.  Please let me know if you are interested in going on this field trip.  The end of the 2nd trimester is this Friday.  If your child needs to bring up their handwriting grade I have enclosed some extra credit in their homework.  Please be sure to follow the directions so it can be used.  If you have any questions please let me know.

Over Easter Vacation many of you will be sad to hear that I am not giving any homework.  I want you to rest and get ready for the end of the year.  Our busy time is coming very soon so please rest and be ready.

Religion:  We will be learning about the 7 Sacraments and also about St. Patrick.  We will continue to learn about the 10 Commandments and Stations of the Cross.

Spelling:  This week we are working with the th and wh blend.  Next week we will work with the y as a long I sound.

Phonics:  We are working with long vowels and high frequency words.

Math:  We will continue to work on time and money.  After Easter Break we will begin working with double digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping.  Please begin working with your child.

Reading:  Both reading groups are doing very well.  We will be moving into our next hard reader next week.  AR is on Wednesday’s.  They are doing very well.  Last week they did an excellent job.  Please remember to read every night for at least 20 minutes.

Social Studies:  We are going to look at maps.  We will also read maps using symbols and directions of North, South, East and West.

Science:    We will be working on living and non-living.  This will follow with a small lesson on dinosaurs.  After Easter break we will learn about the Butterfly Cycle.  This will be a hands-on lesson.  I will order a kit that shows the students how a caterpillar develops into a butterfly.

Homework:  Homework is going very well.  Please remember to check your child’s work to make sure it is complete and that they followed directions.

Gradelink:  Please make sure you are checking your child’s progress.  If you have any questions please ask.  I do input grades often.
